I am an independent researcher.
I received my Ph.D. in mass communication (minor: sociology) from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My research lies in global political communication, examining the role of media and communication in civic and political participation, social movement mobilization, and international conflicts.
I am a first-generation college student from a small rural island in Liaoning province of China. I earned my B.A. in media studies with Dean’s Thesis Award at Ritsumeikan University in Japan. I value the communication experiences of the marginalized and suppressed.
